Hard Mountain Dew!

 Good day fellow Foodies!

This blog is about Hard Mountain Dew. This product is a collaboration between Pepsi and The Boston Beer Company (the makers of Sam Adams.) I heard about this product last year and I have been greatly anticipating it's release. And now, it's here!

I found it at one of my project stores. This particular case is a mix pack. It has regular Dew, Watermelon, Black Cherry, and Baja Blast flavors. I'm not a big fan of Baja Blast, so I haven't tried that flavor. Zero sugar and 5% alcohol each.

First, original Dew. These things are dangerous. Tastes like Mountain Dew Zero Sugar. I can't even taste the alcohol. It goes down just like a soda would. No harsh aftertaste, just Dew.

Next, Watermelon. Again, can't taste the alcohol. Just watermelon which is reminiscent of the Major Melon Dew.

The Black Cherry is the one that I could taste the alcohol the most. Not overwhelming but you can tell it's there. Nice black cherry flavor though.

I didn't try the Baja Blast but, if you like that flavor you probably won't be disappointed with the Hard version.

Billy Ray's, Prestonsburg, KY

     So, for dinner this evening I tried a local place called Billy Ray's in Prestonsburg, KY.  The only reason I gave this restaurant a 3 out of 5 star rating is because of the customer service. Customer service was excellent. Otherwise it would have been a 2 star rating. I ordered sweet tea to drink, the fried mushroom appetizer, the seafood platter, and the tropical cake for dessert.      Unfortunately, all of the fried food seemed like it was pre-breaded frozen fare. The fried mushrooms were decent. The only saving grace was that the food runner, not the server, went to the kitchen himself and made me some fresh-from-scratch creamy horseradish for the mushrooms. For me, this is a must for fried mushrooms!      The seafood platter had 2 fish (unspecified) fillets, 5 fried shrimp, 2 fried scallops (yes, just 2), and 2 deviled crab. Bodine's Biscuits, Prestonsburg, KY

  Yesterday I went to Bodine's Biscuits in Prestonsburg, KY, for breakfast. 3 out of 5 stars. Blandly average. I ordered the Big Breakfast Platter which came with 3 eggs, 2 meats, and a biscuit. I also ordered a side of sausage gravy and a home made apple fritter. The apple fritter was extremely dry. The pastry had no flavor, except for the little bit of apple in the middle. I took a couple of bites out of it then decided to take the rest back to my room with me so I could have some milk with it to help moisten it up. Next, the Big Breakfast Platter. I ordered my eggs scrambled and I got the sausage and shaved ham for my meats. The eggs were simply scrambled, but overcooked and dry. No seasoning, not even salt and pepper. The ham and sausage were well cooked. The ham was salty. The sausage was flavorful but I overheard the manager telling another patron that it was just Jimmy Dean sausage.
